Pilot Research Project on Emotions in the Museum and Heritage Workforce

You are invited to take part in a pilot research project exploring workforce emotions which is being run as a collaboration between King’s College London, the University of Stirling and the Museums Association.

This is an opportunity to help shape research in this area. We are asking for your help in testing the methods so we can learn what works best and further develop them for what we hope will be a larger project in the future. Because this is a pilot, it won’t be perfect, and that’s very much the point!

What’s involved?

The pilot includes two parts:

  • Survey: approx. 20 minutes (access via this link: https://qualtrics.kcl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_4HGZh0EvNQ4Mauq) (open until end of September)
  • Daily “emotion diary” completed after work: approx. 10 minutes per day for 7 days (if you are interested in this please opt in at the end of the survey where more detailed instructions will be provided).

Important information

  • Anyone who works in a museum or heritage role (including volunteers, freelance workers & consultants) and is over 16 can take part.
  • Taking part is completely up to you. There’s no pressure to participate.
  • Everything you share will be kept private. We won’t be able to connect your answers back to you.
  • If you would like to take part in the “emotion diary,” you’ll need to leave your email at the end of the survey. It will only be used for the study and will be kept separate from your other answers to protect your privacy.
  • You can stop participating at any time. You can also complete the survey without opting in to the “emotion diary,” but unfortunately you can’t opt in to the “emotion diary” without first completing the survey.
